Web Design

Trenaman Law

The Challenge
The client, Mason Trenaman, wanted an updated website to serve as a landing page for new and existing clients of his law practice.
My Role
I served as the designer and developer for a consultant who led the project.
The Team
Our team included project manager, illustrator, and photographer and designer.
Constraints
The client was interested in a minimal, single page design for the website.
We are very pleased with the new site! --Stephanie, Trenaman Law

Goals

Based on initial meetings with the client, the goals for the new website were:

  • Brand the site in a a way that conveyed a feeling of stability and experience
  • Share some of the client's connection to the community
  • Feature the client's current areas of professional practice

Research

The client had a long history serving the community as an attorney and District Court Judge. To get a better sense of the client's story, we reviewed some artifacts related to his career.

One the things that Mason found most rewarding as a judge was his work deciding adoption cases. He shared with us a newspaper article written two decades prior that featured some of his judicial work on adoption cases. The article symbolized both Mason's commitment to the community and his passion as a professional.

New Logo and Photography

To create new brand imagery illustrating who Mason was as a professional we began by developing a new logo for his practice. The client's preferred imagery was an architectural column that formed the letter "T". Our illustrator created a logo that incorporated these preferences.

We supported the logo with some new photography from the local community that extended the column theme while projecting an image that emphasized stability and a rootedness in the local community.

Updated User Interface

I incorporated the new logo and photography into design elements that portrayed Mason's history in the community and reflected his current work. After a few rounds of feedback and iteration, we arrived at a final approved design.

The "About Us" section of the site, emphasized the client's history as a legal professional.

Outcomes

The goals of the project were met. The new branding projected the image that the client wanted. The content bridged Mason's judicial expertise with his current work as a private attorney. We delivered the developed site to the client. The site was reviewed by the local Bar Association and is currently live.

Takeaway

If it were feasible for the client, adding dedicated pages for each of the client's practice areas may have additional positive impact on the site's visibility.
